    • There are currently 349 students at Kareela Public School organised into fourteen classes. Four of these classes are multi-age with the remaining ten classes single grade.

      With the department's 'Reduced Class Size Initiative' that came into effect in all NSW public schools in 2005, the following maximum student numbers apply:

      Kindergarten: 20
      Year 1: 22
      Year 2: 24
      Years 3-6: 30

       


       

       

       


  •  Students’ Code of Behaviour

    In 2004, all students discussed the rules needed at our school to ensure the school environment was a safe and happy one for everyone. The following 'Students' Code of Behaviour' was developed.            

    Learn All You Can

    Students will:

    • Listen carefully
    • Follow classroom rules and routines
    • Come prepared for school
    • Apply themselves to the best of their ability

    Show You Care

    Students will:

    • Be courteous to other students, staff and community members
    • Always listen at school assemblies
    • Care for, and respect their own property, the school’s property and the property of other people
    • Represent the school in an appropriate manner at sport, on excursions and during all school activities
    • Wear the full school uniform with pride at school, while travelling to and from school, and while representing the school
    • Be careful not to waste energy, paper and water
    • Always keep the classrooms, eating and play areas free of rubbish
    • Place all rubbish in the correct containers
    • Play away from all gardens and bushland and not climb in the trees

    Be Safe and Sensible

    Students will:

    • Arrive at school before 9.10am
    • Sit on the wooden seats if arriving before 8.40am
    • Be on time for classes, assemblies and special groups
    • Stay out of school buildings before and after school, at recess and lunch unless supervised by a teacher or tutor
    • Stay in the school grounds during school hours and only leave with permission
    • Play safely within prescribed playground areas
    • Always walk on the asphalt and cement areas
    • Obey requests from staff and others in positions of authority
    • Wear a school hat or sit in the shade
    • Leave school at 3.15pm unless staying for tutorials, special groups or attending After School Care (Students staying after school for activities not organised by the school must be supervised by an adult from 3.15pm)
    • Travel safely, and obey the road rules of the transport authorities

    Honest and Fair

    Students will:

    • Tell the truth
    • Follow the agreed rules of games
    • Respect other people and their space
    • Co-operate with others
    • Accept other people’s differences
    • Hand-in all lost property and other people’s belongings

    Children attending Before and After School Care must comply with the

    Students’ Code of Behaviour
